Dark Green Romanticism

by the Tasmanian National-Anarchists

The recent revelations demolishing the consensus on ‘manmade global warming’ have done immense damage to the cause of ecology. These scandals are a direct result of the hijacking of the environmental movement by the extreme Left (and please note, by ‘Left’ we refer exclusively to the globalist Left, not the old fashioned left which just wanted a fair go for the worker). The Left hitched its wagon to the ‘manmade warming’ theory because it appeared to give them a perfect excuse to bring about their cherished aim of global governance. As a result, ecology has been reduced to a matter of ‘carbon emissions’.

But now even Phil Jones, the top level scientist who advised the UN on climate matters, has gone on record admitting there has been no warming in the last fifteen years:

Meanwhile, in Germany, the Greens Party seems to have abandoned its concern for the natural world, instead focussing its attention on politically correct enterprises like supporting the bombing of Belgrade (all those Serbs had to be killed for ‘humanitarian’ reasons, according to German Green leaders).

The green movement, which started with noble intentions, has clearly been subverted from within by globalists. It is now time for genuine environmentalists to examine where their movement is headed, and to assess how much damage has been done by these Leftist infiltrators.

In our view, the hijacking of the ecology movement by the Left has done massive amounts of damage, not only in terms of the reduction of ecology to phony statements about ‘carbon emissions’, but also by alienating the common folk from the movement by hitching environmentalism to currents which most people don’t agree with (e.g. ‘progressivist’ causes, and increased statism).

Strength and Beauty

The truth is, we need wilderness areas not because they function as utilitarian ‘carbon sinks’ (a disgusting term) but because they enable us to transcend the mundane. We need a non-human world of beauty and terror for warriors and dreamers to lose themselves in.

Environmental aesthetics shouldn’t just extend to wilderness areas, however. They are equally important in the human environment. Towns and villages, too, are ecosystems, with both human and natural elements. Ecology means opposing the sterile, cosmopolitan ugliness of our modern cities, and replacing this with meaningful and beautiful folkish architecture which is unique to each place, thereby rejecting the internationalism which makes London look like Sydney look like Paris look like Madrid.

It also means destroying corporate advertising billboards.

Famed Tasmanian wilderness photographer Olegas Truchanas once asked: “Is there any reason why the idea of beauty could not become part of government policy?” Unfortunately this can never happen under the current liberal system, because liberalism regards the idea of ‘beauty’ as deeply suspect, perhaps even as ‘fascist’.

The Many-Too-Many

Most of our environmental problems stem, directly or indirectly, from the one cause: overpopulation.

Overpopulation is not merely a threat to quality of life, either – it also exacerbates the danger of global tyranny by promoting large scale societies, more easily brought under control by a centralised world government. Although population levels in the Western world are starting to decline, in the so-called ‘Third World’ they are booming. Perhaps the best way to combat overpopulation is by supporting movements to promote birth control in the Third World.

But quantity isn’t the only concern. Quality is just as important, and humans in the West are becoming more stupid and slovenly with each generation. Television and the liberal education system are dumbing down the populace like never before.

Guillaume Faye observed that “the technocratic civilisation operates an intense selective pressure in favour of human types who are oriented towards such dispositions as economic aggression, submission to doctrine, devotion to certain norms of physical comfort and so forth. Such a pressure is genetically deleterious.”

So how can we reverse this genetic, mental and spiritual decline, without the use of governments or coercion?

Only through a new spirituality…

‘Let us be wild! Let us be pagans!’

Paganism needs to be reclaimed from the Wiccan stereotypes (Wicca isn’t paganism, it’s a feminised version of Judeo-Christianity with a Goddess instead of a God). Real paganism is folkish, and folkish spirituality goes hand in hand with environmentalism. Preserving the health of the folk is just as important as preserving the health of the ecosystem.

Environmentalism was created in Europe in the 19th century, not by globalists or communists, but by FOLKISH NATIONALISTS. Many of these early environmentalists supported the Nation State, but in our own time nationalists should directly oppose the State, because the State (acting as an arm of globalism) is crushing regional identities all over the world.

To be a nationalist today means supporting the struggle of ALL tribes and nations to maintain their identity in the face of globalist monoculture.

Gerhard Petak from the band Allerseelen wrote: “Folkish is today a dangerous word. Like the words home, roots, loyalty it is situated in the cross wires of an omnipresent brainwashing. Those who use this word are pushed close to the Third Reich. But the foreign policy of the Third Reich was not folkish at all. The principle that the peoples were different, but equal of birth, was not taken into consideration.”

Petak also believes that scientific developments and technology cannot be undone, for better or worse. It may be possible for some individuals to lead a luddite lifestyle, but technology itself can never be abolished. Instead, it must be transcended:

“Tradition and future, spirituality and technology, wisdom and science, mythos and logos have to meet without fighting, destroying each other. That is the difficulty, the art of alchemy. A green paganism has to be conservative avant garde, in some areas conservative, in others revolutionary.”

Which way forward?

Greens must begin by rejecting their support for open borders immigration, which only benefits the capitalists they claim to oppose. The fact that so many greens sympathise with the Left is remarkable, given the bad track record of Communist regimes towards the environment.

Ecologists also need to adopt a more warrior outlook – that is the only way they will ever get respect from the public. Steve Irwin had a warrior demeanour and was greatly respected, even by those who hate ‘greenies’ and ‘ferals’. Germaine Greer, on the other hand, attacked Irwin after his death (for this very trait) but is not well loved. Ironically (given Greer’s feminist views), more women would sympathise with Steve Irwin than they would with her.

Joe Sixpack has come to see the green movement as the provenance of dreadlocked, arrogant communists. To counter this, the green movement as a whole must cut its ties to the Left, and instead forge ties with national revolutionary groups who believe in genuine self-sufficiency. It must also attempt to build better ties with ordinary people.

The creation of smaller groups of activists and thinkers, people who are already on equal terms, is probably the best way to go (to avoid the ego clashes and ‘messiah complexes’ so common in politics). Large movements are open to Leftist or government infiltration. Think small.

And finally, while the green movement’s rejection of modern society is understandable (given how shallow that society is in many regards), greens must not be blinded to human potential. Man and nature have their own spheres, but they aren’t rigidly separate. The spheres are interlinked materially through the common biosphere, and culturally through the inspiration wild nature has always provided for artists, poets and philosophers. We owe nature a duty of care first and foremost because we owe ourselves a duty of care.

Heidegger wrote that the role of mankind is “to enable the earth to bring forth a world.” That is the eternal Faustian quest which Western man must engage with, or die.

The only alternative is the triumph of materialism.

In other words: the triumph of the Left.

A Visit to Christiania

by two Tasmanian National-Anarchists.

Christiania is a famous secessionist enclave not far from the centre of Copenhagen. Given that it’s an abandoned military base, we were half expecting it to be all underground (visions of hippies living like mice in bunkers!), but it was actually an overground barracks, and quite a big one at that. It even had parks and walking tracks.

These more obscure parts of Christiania seemed a lot friendlier than the main square. Some houses had their own gardens, and there was a stable with horses. We also had a good vegan meal at a place called Morgenstedet, which we can recommend.

The main business area felt like a cross between a viking village and a funhouse, although it would have been a lot more pleasant if not for all the pot dealers loitering around, with cold faces and shifty expressions. But hard drugs are banned there – unlike Australia’s own famous ‘alternative living’ experiment, Nimbin, NSW, where heroin is now a major problem.

While Christianians are very selective about who they let live in their town, anyone is technically welcome to visit. Unfortunately, many come just to piss-splash the walls with ugly graffiti, of the same kind found in any other Western city. Some artwork was more creative, but while many cultures were represented (American Indian, Tibetan etc.), the only Danish image seemed to be a sign in runes, spelling the name of the settlement.

Christianian culture is obviously very pot-centred. You can smell marijuana wherever you go, which is probably the reason for all the signs saying “no photos”. We respected their wishes, however, and only photographed the exit:

It’s unclear what kind of defence the residents would mount if the EU actually did restrict their lifestyle. Their attempts at self-sufficiency seemed mainly token, with shops using Danish currency rather than a bartering system. The commune did possess its own garbage truck, however.

All in all, Christiania had both positive and negative elements. It’s an interesting social experiment, but certainly not the last word in independent community living.

Regionalism vs. the World State

On first read, this article from the Brussels Journal seems ominous:

The Lisbon Treaty, with its incorporation of most European countries into a vast superstate, is another chapter in the push by globalist elites to homogenise the entire world.

The ‘Asian Union’ which Kevin Rudd has been trumpeting represents another step on the same path. Although it’s still a long way off (Asian countries, being more varied in political and economic structure, are harder to integrate than European ones) it is still definitely on the cards. So too is an African Union, a North American Union etc. Eventually, all these continental ‘unions’ will be ‘harmonised’ into a truly global state. At least if the corporate elites are allowed to have their way…

National-Anarchists, like all sane people, view these developments with horror and contempt. Aside from the destruction of the world’s cultures and folkways that globalism represents, it is also a surefire recipe for tyranny. A world state could only be controlled by means of outright despotism.

If we want to avoid a future like that, then we must fight now.

The good news is that the system’s own overreach is already starting to work against it. In Europe, for instance, there is a clear development towards regionalism. People are rediscovering their ancestral cultures like never before, including regional cultures that existed long before the rise of the centralised nation state.

In Belgium itself (where the EU capital Brussels is located), there are signs that the artificially-created country could soon break down into its component regions of Flanders and Wallonia.

The regionalist movement is still small, largely manifested in pagan spiritual circles, in neo-folk and black metal music, and in certain growing political movements (such as National-Anarchism). But the regionalist tendency will doubtless continue to thrive as the EU sinks its bureaucratic tentacles further into people’s private lives and cultural spheres.

May a thousand flowers bloom…

We Counter the Misinformation of the ‘AntiFa’

Recently a representative from a Tasmanian anti-forestry group demanded that a link to their group be removed from our website, because she had heard that we were ‘racists’. This group (whose work we respect) had unfortunately fallen for lies and misinformation which came from the state-funded ‘AntiFa’. We set them straight, and our reply is probably worth reprinting:

Dear ___,
You clearly know little about National-Anarchism if you believe it is ‘racist’. N-A supports the creation of VOLUNTARY separatist communities, which can be organised either on ethnic or other grounds (for instance, it would be perfectly possible to have a homosexual N-A community, as well as an Aboriginal N-A community etc.). In addition, we support the existence of MULTI-racial communities, for those few people who wish to live in them.

We believe the best way to combat internationalist capitalism is by promoting as much separatism as possible, by abolishing the State, and by taking everything to the local community level. You may disagree with our approach, but to call our position ‘racist’ is complete horseshit. We support all peoples who wish to preserve their cultural heritage in the face of globalist imperialism, whether Tibetan, Anglo-Saxon, Aboriginal, or whatever.

The myth that we are ‘white supremacists’ comes from government-funded groups like so-called ‘antifa’, whose main purpose is to turn anti-system activists against other anti-system activists. It’s saddening that you have bought into it, without even bothering to ask Tasna what our views are.

I also find it a bit puzzling that you would ask a website to remove a link to your organisation, just because you disagree with some of their views (and what precisely on our website do you disagree with, incidentally?). Our blog (which is still in its infancy) is viewed by a variety of people, from leftists to nationalists, many of whom haven’t come into contact with groups like yours before. Some of them may be valuable future fighters for the anti-forestry cause. But you seem to find it less important to promote that cause, than to adhere to the dogmatic tenets of PC internationalism!

Incidentally, why do you want to preserve the earth’s unique ecosystems but not also its unique human nations and tribes?

No, we’re not going to remove the link. We will continue to promote your group in the future, if we find their activities at all noteworthy. Our blog has been quiet recently, but many new articles are coming up, including an important one on environmentalism which should appear in the next few weeks. I’ll contact you when it’s up, to see what you think.

Despite your misguided hostility towards us, we believe you are doing valuable work in helping to protect Tassie’s ancient forests, so keep it up.

It’s just a shame you bought into the lies of the ‘antifa’, without even contacting us about it first.

Yours sincerely,

Why We Reject the State

Why We Reject the State

by the Tasmanian National-Anarchists

Nearly everyone criticises the state these days, but few question its right to exist. Western-style nation states have become the norm all over the world, and are rarely questioned in principle – even by those who question Western values.

But why has ‘nation’ (originally signifying a tribe or kinship-based society) come to be seen as synonymous with ‘state’? And on what basis do we owe allegiance to the modern state, which can no longer even be called a nation, being internationalist in outlook?

The modern state doesn’t represent a nation anymore, so what DOES it represent? From where does it derive its authority? From a contract? If so, then who consented to it???

Our ultimate view on the state must depend on whether it serves the interests of our people. Othmar Spann said “the role of the state is to protect and not to destroy the roots of society.” (By roots, he meant folkways or traditions)

The state’s only value lies in this transmission of inheritance. But when it has ceased to perform this task (and we can no longer make it do so), then it’s time for the state to go.

The state is not an end in itself, it is only a means to an end. The end, as expressed by Michael Walker, is “the preservation and advancement of a community.”

The modern state no longer advances or preserves. In fact, it has become actively harmful to us. Therefore, it must go.

The state no longer has any initiative of its own, it dances mainly to the tune of multinational corporations and bankers. It concerns itself with economics, not politics in the true sense of the word. Elections have less and less significance, as the policies of the major parties come increasingly to resemble one another.

Rousseau noted that “democracy is best suited to the small state, aristocracy to the medium, and monarchy to larger states.” What, then, would be suited to the ‘world state’ which the elites are pushing for? Such a state could only be controlled by outright tyranny…

For that and other reasons, National-Anarchists view the idea of a ‘world state’ as abhorrent.

What are the alternatives?

Some have proposed either total rejection of the state (libertarianism), or the opposite – raising the state itself to a level of absolute political authority (something akin to fascism).

Are these the only alternatives, though? Libertarianism and the nanny state have both proved to be failures in practice, after all.

National-Anarchists propose that the COMMUNITY, not the ‘state’, once again becomes maker and arbitrator of its own laws.

Let us conclude with the words of Professor J.R.R. Tolkien:

“My political opinions lean more and more to Anarchy (philosophically understood, meaning abolition of control not whiskered men with bombs) […] Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people […] The most improper job of any man, even saints, is bossing other men. Not one in a million is fit for it, and least of all those who seek the opportunity…”

Yet those are the very men (and women) who now govern us…to the detriment of life itself.

Tasmanian Anarchists Say ‘Fuck Off’ to Water Privatisation

Cold water has always been free in Tassie, unlike mainland Australia where people are billed for it. But that is no longer to be the case…

Instead, a private corporation will control one of the vital necessities of life.

Advocates of water privatisation claim that a public-owned water infrastructure causes wastage. But this argument has no validity in Tasmania, with 12% of Australia’s rainfall and more than enough fresh water to supply the island’s half a million people with all their needs.

All it requires is a few simple pipelines, which can easily be paid for with, say, the money the Liberal Party is proposing to waste on turning the Midland highway into a four lane expressway.

Water privatisation in other parts of the world has even involved outlawing people’s rights to collect rain water! Such a law will no doubt be introduced in Tasmania further down the track.

In Uruguay, a referendum was held on water privatisation in 2004, and it was banned as a result. This is unlikely to happen in Tasmania, however, as our state political structure is too corrupt to allow it.

In Bolivia water privatisation was met by riots known as the ‘Cochabamba Water Wars’. This too is unlikely to happen in Tasmania because the population is more sedate, seemingly kept in a trance by their televisions and consumer trinkets.

Tasmania’s National-Anarchists staunchly oppose the privatisation of OUR water – the water of the people of Tasmania. We will be keeping a very close eye on these disturbing developments.

More news as it comes to hand…
